The best Polymarket alternative for most US traders is Kalshi: a CFTC-regulated exchange with the same mix of politics, economics and sports markets, funded in dollars, with near-identical fees. Other strong sites like Polymarket include Robinhood (easiest if you already invest), Novig and ProphetX (cheapest for sports) and PredictIt (politics only). Here’s how each compares as of October 2026. One thing first: if you’re in the US, Polymarket itself is legal through its separate Polymarket US app (everywhere except Nevada), so you may not need an alternative at all.
| Site | Best for | Markets | Funding | Minimum age | Where it’s limited |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kalshi | Closest overall match | Politics, economics, sports, weather, culture | USD | 18+ | Sports blocked by court order in NV, WA, MI |
| Robinhood | Existing investors | Sports, economics, politics, crypto, weather | USD (settled cash) | 18+ | No sports in MD, NV; no new sports in MI |
| Novig | Low-cost sports | Sports only | USD, stablecoins | 21+ | Not in NV, AZ, MI |
| ProphetX | Paying only when you win | Sports, plus some politics and esports | USD, crypto | 18+ | No published list; CT cease-and-desist |
| PredictIt | Politics specialists | Politics only | USD | 18+ (US persons) | None found |
| DraftKings Predictions | DraftKings customers | Sports, financial | USD | 18+ | Sports in about 18 states; not ME, NH |
| FanDuel Predicts | FanDuel customers | Sports, financial | USD | 18+ | Sports in 18 states |
Fees are the clearest way to compare. Here’s each site’s published fee on the same winning trade, 100 contracts at 50¢:
A losing trade changes the picture: Kalshi, Polymarket US, Robinhood and FanDuel charge the same fee win or lose, while ProphetX and PredictIt charge nothing when you lose.
Kalshi has been a CFTC-designated exchange since November 2020. It covers the same ground Polymarket is known for (elections, the Fed, inflation, culture) plus more than 4,000 sports series. Its taker fee, 0.07 × contracts × price × (1 − price), is within a cent of Polymarket US’s 0.0695. The catch is state pushback on sports. See our Kalshi vs Polymarket comparison.
If you already have Robinhood, its Prediction Markets Hub routes event contracts to Kalshi, ForecastEx, Rothera and Crypto.com’s exchange. You don’t need a new account, but fees are higher than going direct.
Novig is a sports-only, peer-to-peer exchange (CFTC-designated since June 2026) with no fee on pre-game trades. It’s 21+ only.
ProphetX charges 2% of net gains on straight trades, so losing trades are free. It’s sports-first but now lists some politics and esports.
PredictIt has run political markets since 2014. Its 10% fee on profits is expensive, but it no longer charges for withdrawals, and its political catalogue is deep.
Both sportsbook giants now run CFTC-regulated prediction products, but they offer sports contracts only in states without their own sportsbooks (roughly 18 each). They’re convenient if you’re already a customer.
Polymarket’s international site remains the biggest venue outside the US. Alternatives there include Limitless, a crypto-native market on Base, which is not available to US users (see our Limitless review). Check your own country’s rules.
Pick by what you used Polymarket for. For politics and macro, choose Kalshi or PredictIt. For sports at the lowest cost, choose Novig or ProphetX. For convenience inside an app you already use, choose Robinhood. Before you sign up, check the state legality tracker for where you live.
For most US traders, Kalshi. It's a CFTC-regulated exchange (since 2020) with politics, economics, weather, culture and sports markets, dollar funding and taker fees almost identical to Polymarket US's. If you already invest with Robinhood, its Prediction Markets Hub is the easiest alternative.
Several. Kalshi, Robinhood, Novig, ProphetX, PredictIt, DraftKings Predictions and FanDuel Predicts all operate legally under CFTC oversight, each with different state limits. Polymarket itself is legal in the US through its separate Polymarket US app, except in Nevada.
For sports, Novig charges nothing on pre-game straight trades and maker orders, and ProphetX charges 2% of net gains only when you win. For general markets, Kalshi (0.07 × price × (1 − price)) and Polymarket US (0.0695) are close to tied.
Kalshi lists politics and elections markets, and PredictIt is politics-only with a 10% fee on profits. Robinhood also lists political contracts. Availability of election contracts varies; for example, a Nevada court order covers Kalshi's election markets there.
