Frequently asked questions

What are sports prediction sites?

Here, we mean regulated prediction markets where you trade sports event contracts. Each contract pays $1 if an outcome happens, and its price reflects the market's implied probability. They are not tipster or "picks" sites, and we don't give betting tips.

What is the best sports prediction site?

For most US users, Kalshi, which has the widest range of sports markets on a CFTC-regulated exchange. Novig is cheapest for pre-game trades if you're 21+ and in an eligible state. Which site is best for you depends on your state, as sports contracts face court orders and state limits.

Are sports prediction sites legal?

They operate under federal CFTC oversight, but states dispute sports event contracts. As of October 2026, court orders block Kalshi's sports contracts in Nevada, Washington and Michigan, and DraftKings and FanDuel offer sports only in states without their sportsbooks. Check our legality tracker for your state.

Are sports prediction markets cheaper than sportsbooks?

Often, because exchanges charge a published fee instead of building a margin into the odds, but it depends on the fee structure and the spread. FanDuel Predicts' flat 2¢ fee, for example, costs 20% of the stake on a 10¢ contract. Compare after-fee payouts.
