Sports event contracts are largely blocked in Michigan. As of October 17, 2026, a state court has ordered Kalshi to geofence its sports markets, Robinhood and Coinbase have agreed to stop offering them, and Novig doesn’t operate here. Kalshi in Michigan
Attorney General Dana Nessel sued Kalshi and won a restraining order in June 2026. When Kalshi tried to cancel Michigan trades in response, the CFTC used emergency powers on July 14, 2026 to stay that change. On September 1, 2026, Ingham County Circuit Judge Rosemarie Aquilina signed a preliminary injunction requiring Kalshi to stop sports contracts and geofence Michigan through a provider licensed by the Michigan Gaming Control Board, with a $500,000-a-day penalty (reported by SBC Americas). Robinhood and Coinbase
The Michigan Gaming Control Board announced on September 9, 2026 that Robinhood “agreed to stop offering new sports-related event contracts to Michigan customers” and to close remaining positions by October 9. “The agreement will remain in effect until the Sixth Circuit appeals are resolved.” Coinbase reached a similar agreement on October 7, 2026.
Polymarket US
Polymarket US sued Michigan officials in federal court in 2026. After its request for a preliminary injunction was denied, it appealed to the Sixth Circuit (No. 26-1552). We found no ruling as of October 17, 2026, and Polymarket US remains available. See is Polymarket legal?
