Kalshi parlays: how Kalshi combos work

A row of dominoes ending in an amber one, illustrating how Kalshi parlays combine several picks into one combo

Kalshi parlays are called combos. You combine two or more legs (for example, a game winner, a total and a player prop) into one contract that pays $1 only if every leg hits. As of October 2026, combo prices come from a request-for-quote system rather than the order book, so a fill isn’t guaranteed. Here’s how Kalshi combos are built, priced, settled and charged, from Kalshi’s help centre and CFTC filings.

How Kalshi combos work

Kalshi certified its combo contract, “Will <outcomes> occur in <events>?”, with the CFTC on September 2, 2025. Its help centre describes combos as “custom combinations of events in a single position. Each combo is a unique market with its own dedicated order book.” Combos “resolve to the product of the underlying positions, paying out a maximum of $1.00 per contract.”

To build one: open an eligible event, or go to the live tab, pick a sport and open the combo builder. Eligible events are added on a rolling basis. Combo buttons “typically appear when starting lineups/rosters are finalized.”

What you can combine

Kalshi’s main combo collection on October 17, 2026 listed 3,172 eligible events across 288 series. Most are sports (NFL, college football, NBA, NHL, soccer, tennis, UFC, cricket), but it also includes some crypto, elections, commodities and financial markets, so combos can mix categories. The API sets a minimum of two legs. Kalshi doesn’t publish a maximum, and we saw live 10-leg combos. Two exceptions: NFL ladder and escalator markets “can’t currently be added to combos,” and protected NFL player picks can only be switched on for Yes picks, in the mobile app, before kick-off.

How combo prices are set: request for quote

You don’t trade a combo against a resting order book the way you do a single market. Kalshi’s help centre explains: “Combo prices are determined through a Request For Quote (RFQ) system… other participants can respond with a price.” Three consequences:

Settlement, voids and DNPs

Each leg otherwise follows its own market’s rules on ties and postponements.

Kalshi parlay fees

Under a fee update Kalshi filed with the CFTC on July 12, 2026 (effective no earlier than July 24), for combo trades that don’t involve a resting order: “Traders executing against a quoter will pay the equivalent of a ‘taker’ fee, and… quoters whose quote is accepted shall pay the equivalent of a ‘maker’ fee.” Kalshi’s main combo series carry a separate combo maker-fee setting in its API. InGame, as reported by Bitcoin.com, says the combo maker fee is half the taker fee. We couldn’t confirm that rate from Kalshi’s fee schedule, so check the ticket. Separately, Kalshi puts 25% of fees from sports prop combos into a liquidity incentive pool for traders who quote the individual legs. Our Kalshi fees guide covers the base formulas.

The parlay maths: our quick guide

Because every leg must hit, the chance a combo wins is roughly the product of each leg’s probability. Fair combos get expensive fast, which is why a five-leg combo of favourites still usually loses:

Chance a combo hits if every leg is a 60% favourite If each leg has a 60 percent chance: 2 legs 36 percent, 3 legs 21.6 percent, 4 legs 13 percent, 5 legs 7.8 percent, 6 legs 4.7 percent. Chance a combo hits if every leg is a 60% favourite 36% 2 legs 21.6% 3 legs 13% 4 legs 7.8% 5 legs 4.7% 6 legs NUMBER OF LEGS (EACH 60% LIKELY, INDEPENDENT)
Kalshi parlay probability = product of leg probabilities, assuming independent legs. Our calculation; real combos may price correlated legs differently.
LegsEach leg 50%Each leg 60%Each leg 70%Fair combo price at 60% legs

312.5%21.6%34.3%22¢
46.3%13.0%24.0%13¢
53.1%7.8%16.8%8¢

Two practical points. First, compare the quoted combo price with the product of the legs’ own prices. If the quote is well below that product, the quoter’s margin is large. Second, legs from the same game are often correlated (a quarterback’s yards and his team’s points tend to move together), so their true joint probability isn’t a simple product. That’s one reason quotes can differ from the maths above.

How big are Kalshi combos?

Combos have grown quickly. InGame, as reported by Bitcoin.com, says a record $68.4 million was staked on Kalshi parlays on the taker side on September 13, 2026, a little over 11% of Kalshi’s total taker volume that day. These are third-party figures, not Kalshi disclosures.

Before you build a combo

Check that sports contracts are allowed where you are: court orders block Kalshi sports in Nevada, Washington and Michigan (see Is Kalshi legal?). For the full menu of leagues and props, see our Kalshi sports guide. To compare parlay-style products elsewhere, read our Novig review, where parlay fees are built into the quote.

Frequently asked questions

Does Kalshi have parlays?

Yes. Kalshi calls them combos: 'custom combinations of events in a single position,' each with its own order book. Every leg must resolve Yes for the combo to pay $1 per contract. Combos are built in the combo builder from an eligible event's page or the live sports tab.

How are Kalshi parlay prices set?

Through a request-for-quote (RFQ) system: you request a price and other participants, usually market makers, respond. 'Fills are not guaranteed. If no market participant responds to the RFQ with a quote, the combo order will not fill.' Once filled, a combo can't be cancelled.

What happens to a Kalshi combo if a player doesn't play?

The affected leg 'generally… resolves to its last fair price as determined by the Exchange rather than $0 or $1,' and the combo pays the product of all legs. For example, a DNP leg at $0.70 with two winning legs pays $0.70. A DNP doesn't by itself refund the combo.

What fees does Kalshi charge on parlays?

Under a fee update Kalshi filed with the CFTC on July 12, 2026, a trader accepting a combo quote pays the equivalent of a taker fee and the quoter pays the equivalent of a maker fee. Kalshi's combo series carry a separate combo maker-fee setting. The trade ticket shows the exact fee.
